I think the first comment was fair - the ps3 does struggle in the UK market especially with software. However using the uk market as a basis for worldwide claims is clearly stupid.

but its established fanbase is infinately more than killzone's. Many people who had ps2's waited for MGS4 to upgrade. Killzone was not an established franchise that can do the same think. first off the 1 million EU lead doesn't come from MS it is confirmed by GFK too.
As for France the ps3 has a 100K lead but has been outsold by the 360 since september. The same situation has occured in Germany, Spain and Italy (where the 360 somehow managed to outsell the wii for a few weeks).
GFK if anything but bullshit on sony's claim they are 300K ahead in the EU.

If sony and MS knew what the wii could achieve back in 2004 I guarantee they would have gone down the same route as nintendo. As a result of going down a different route MS and sony now have to play catch up next gen.
@eifell - your opinions would actually have some value if you appreciated that the wii has plenty of good games (and yes plenty of shovelware like the ps2 did). The wii's 2009 line up is much better too.
and it sells alot more games. So it is a viable gaming platform. Everybody who plays games is a gamer. Just because they may not play as often as you or would take a bullet for a gaming company like many on here doesn't mean they should be discounted. I'm saying that boost will be nothing compared to what we will see with a pricecut. How many consoles will killzone move that MGS4, Resistance and LBP couldn't. I think its less than you think.
The only game that has managed to provide a big boost for the ps3 is MGS4 with Gran Turismo providing a european boost.
The next big boost for the ps3 won't happen until that price comes down no matter how good a game is.

Launches aligned the ps2 was at 9 million already with the ps3 at 2.5 million. Thats quite a big loss generation to generation.
with wii, DS and psp games circling the charts its hard for any ps3 or 360 games to stay in the charts never mind at the top of them.

From a combined total last gen of 220 million consoles sold and growing the figure has plummeted to 50 million this gen with little chance it will reach 100 million.
And a last generation console being released so late and still outselling the 'currnet gen' consoles is a feat and a half!
Also as well as breaking sales records the wii will become the latest entrant to even win a console war when it overtakes the ps2 and dethrones it to second place last generation...
Mario Galaxy and the best Mario Kart wii ever. And no that is not just my definition in it is THE definition. The wii is in the same generation of consoles and will be looked back upon as being so. It will also be mentioned in the same gen in news articles and reference sites such as wikipedia. If you don't like it then fine but it doesn't mean it is not part of this generation.
and to developers. Its got nothing to do with Kotaku being stupid and leaking the story. Home should have been kept behind closed doors for longer as it became ammo for fanboys when it became constantly delayed and far from the finished article when it finally was released.
